Tickmill is a reliable broker that has been operating for over a decade since 2014. It offers some of the most sought-after assets, including forex, CFDs, options, and futures, alongside full support for MetaTrader 4 and 5 platforms.

I decided to test this broker personally to see whether it’s worth trading with and to identify which types of traders it suits best. Below are my unbiased findings based on hands-on experience with its fees, platforms, asset coverage, and more.

Tickmill’s fee structure is transparent and designed to cater to different trading styles. I tested both primary account types. The Classic account is commission-free, making it straightforward for newer traders, though spreads are wider, starting from 1.6 pips on majors like EUR/USD.

The Raw account is where Tickmill truly shines. During my testing, I incurred low spreads from 0.0 pips on major currency pairs, with a commission per lot per side. You can visit the platform/client area to view the exact amount and base currency for your entity. A key highlight is that deposits and withdrawals are free of charge on all supported methods. When I withdrew funds via bank transfer, my account was credited in under 24 hours.

Other fees to note include standard swap charges for positions held overnight and a currency conversion mark-up where applicable. For those interested in exchange-traded products, the Futures account requires a separate minimum deposit of £1,000.

Regulations

Regulation is the bedrock of any broker review, and Tickmill UK Ltd is on solid ground. It is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under register number 717270. For UK retail clients, this is crucial, as they are guaranteed maximum safety and favourable trading conditions. They will also be protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), up to £120,000.

Beyond the UK, the group operates under multiple licences, including:

  1. Tickmill Europe Ltd: Authorised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under licence No. 278/15.
  2. Tickmill Limited: Licensed and regulated by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles (FSA) under license number SD008.
  3. Tickmill South Africa (Pty) Ltd: Licensed and regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) under license number FSP49464.
  4. Tickmill UK Ltd: Authorised by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) as a representative office with reference number F007663.

The fact that Tickmill Group serves clients in 180+ countries and reports an average monthly trading volume of over 196 billion provides an additional layer of confidence in the broker’s stability.

Trading Platforms

I discovered a broader lineup of trading platforms at Tickmill than most comparable FCA brokers, and each serves a distinct purpose. For CFD trading, the staple MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) are fully supported on desktop, web, and mobile. MT4 remains the go-to for algorithmic traders with its Expert Advisor ecosystem, while MT5 offers more order types, a built-in economic calendar, and better multi-asset tools.

For traders on the move, the proprietary Tickmill Mobile app offers a clean, modern interface with 60+ technical indicators and biometric login, providing a faster experience than the dated MT4/MT5 mobile apps.

Where Tickmill differentiates itself is in its offering for advanced traders. Through CQG, AgenaTrader, and TT (Trading Technologies), clients can access real exchange-traded futures and options with professional-grade tools and Direct Market Access (DMA). This combination of retail-friendly and institutional-grade platforms makes Tickmill uniquely versatile.

Tickmill also offers TradingView integration through its Tickmill Trader platform. However, this is available exclusively on Raw accounts and is not accessible via MT4 or MT5. If TradingView’s charting environment is important to your workflow, note that availability depends on your onboarded entity. You should confirm this in your Client Area before proceeding.

Assets Offered

Tickmill’s CFD offering spans over 600 instruments. This includes 60+ forex pairs, 20+ major stock indices (like the S&P 500 and FTSE 100), 17+ commodities (including gold and oil), and 500+ stock CFDs and ETFs on US and European-listed companies. This range is sufficient for most active traders to build a diversified strategy.

The standout feature, however, is the access to real exchange-traded futures and options. Through the Futures account, you can trade contracts on major global exchanges like CME, NYMEX, and EUREX, including popular instruments like Micro E-mini S&P 500 futures. Note that cryptocurrency CFDs are not available to UK retail clients under FCA rules.

Verdict

Tickmill surprised me throughout this review, and I came away genuinely impressed. The platform variety stood out. Whether you prefer MT4, MT5, or the proprietary mobile app, there’s a home for your trading style here.

What really sealed it for me was the support team. Every time I reached out, responses were fast, human, and actually helpful. No scripted runaround, just relevant solutions that kept me trading.

Overall, I’d recommend Tickmill to almost any type of trader. The only exception is for long-term investing. If you’re after holding investments for years using ISA products, this isn’t your broker. But for active trading, it’s a winner.
